"Nothing to Wear" Project Runway Finale & Andy South Fashion Show - April 22, 2010
Hawaii RED Magazine sponsored a screening and contest for the finale of Project Runway in honor of Hawaii designer Jay Sario's excellent showing. Up-and-coming designer Andy South (perhaps Hawaii's next PR contestant?) presented a fashion show of his designs to cap off the evening.

Novel Tees @ Neiman Marcus' Fashion Rules - March 4, 2010
Hifi helped facilitate this event in which the University of Hawaii's fashion club, Innovators of Fashion, were given men's white t-shirts to re-create into a women's shirt featuring Neiman Marcus' top trends of the spring season. The best entries were displayed as the "Novel Tee Exhibit" on Level Two. The exhibit opened at Neiman's Fashion Rules event showcasing Spring fashion, along with trunk shows, makeup artists, DJ's, modeling, and some light bites and beverages around the store.

"New Year, New Style" - A Fundraiser to Support the UH APDM Program - February 25, 2010
Hawaii RED Magazine partnered with the University of Hawaii's Apparel Product Design and Merchandising (fashion) department to raise funds for their program with a special event at the Honolulu Design Center's Cupola Theatre. APDM is the only Bachelor degree-granting fashion program in Hawaii. Many of the APDM alumni have continued on to enrich Hawaii fashion as designers, merchandisers, and entrepreneurs. The fundraiser unveiled the winners of a Styling Competition and featured a silent auction and a panel discussion on "Careers in Fashion" featuring prominent local fashion professionals. The panel was put together and moderated by Toby Portner, co-founder of Hifi.

First Friday Fashion Showcase by UH Innovators of Fashion - February 2010
The UH Innovators of Fashion presented a fashion show and art showcase downtown for February's First Friday event. UH professor Carol D'Angelo and textile designer Dexter Doi showcased their artwork, and current APDM students staged a fashion show of recent work.

Holiday Shopping at etown - December 2009
Hifi designers decked the halls at etown, a boutique owned by sisters (and Hifi members) Pia and Suzanna Kuhlemann, with sales and trunk shows throughout December. Soozou, 1979, Meesah, and HI State of Mind were among the brands featured.

The Business of Networking - November 18, 2009, Fresh Cafe
Hifi's The Coop made an appearance at this event in collaboration with Social Wahines, Pacific Edge Magazine and Fashionista's Market. Featured local designers included Sierra Dew, UMEE, HI State of Mind, and Zsuzsa B. jewelry.

7th Annual Hawaii Woman Expo - September 11-13, 2009
Hifi's pop-up boutique The Coop" was a featured vendor at the 7th Annual Hawaii Woman Expo, along with 200 other booths of food, fashion, beauty, and shopping! HI State of Mind, Sierra Dew, Soozou, and 1979 were among the local designers featured at the Coop. Hifi and Hawaii RED Magazine also presented a fashion show of Hifi members each day. Fashion's Night Out - Neiman Marcus, September 10, 2009
Ala Moana Center joined the fashion capitals of the world when it brought the inaugural Fashion’s Night Out to Honolulu. Hifi hosted a showcase of garments and sketches by UH and HCC fashion students on the second floor of Neiman Marcus during Fashion's Night Out. Click here for photos.

Fifty Years of Fashion in Hawaii - August 13-31, 2009, Ala Moana Center
In conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration, Ala Moana Center and Hifi presented “Fifty Years of Fashion in Hawaii”, an exhibition featuring garments from the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s impressive archived Costume Collection. Thousands of visitors saw the exhibit and garnered much-needed visibility for the Costume Collection. Click here for photos of the individual garments on display.

Tea for Two and TCM - May 9, 2009
Hifi's The Coop and The Contemporary Museum Café hosted a spring trunk show fashion event featuring six Hawaii fashion designers on Saturday, May 9 in honor of Mothers Day. The trunk show showcased jewelry, clothing, and vintage designs by established and emerging designers from Hifi's membership, including Umee, Cloth, Zsuzsa B., Soozou, Sierra Dew, and Martinique. The show was presented in conjunction with FabricActions, a exhibition of new work by fashion writer and Hifi member Paula Rath (see photo at left).

Green Style on the Big Isle - April 10-11, 2009
Hifi and Hawaii RED Magazine sponsored the second annual "Green Style" event in Kailua Kona on the Big Island. A VIP reception, fashion panel and Greendrinks party kicked off the weekend on Friday. Saturday over 18 fashion and beauty vendors from across Hawaii showcased their work at the ECOmarket sale and fashion show at NELHA Gateway renewable energy center. The weekend closed with an Ecolounge party sponsored by Organik, HonuGuide, Nella Media Group, Deschutes Brewery, and Aama Surf.
ECOmarket vendors included Soozou, Meesah, HI State of Mind, Herban Development, Diamondhead Road, Livity Outernational, Restless Runway, Caitlin Ross Odom, Hana Naia, Chris Barreto, Urban Jungle, Yoganics, Boom Boom Bikini, Organik, and Sola-2 Clothing.

First Fashion Friday at Aloha Tower - September 5, 2008
September’s event was themed “Transitions” and explored ways to use the same, key pieces in an outfit to change a look and to avoid having to spend a fortune on separate wardrobes.

Panelists Hugette Montesinos of Disfunkshion Magazine and Nadine Kam of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin showed off easy ways to transition a look from day to evening, or from casual to diva-licious. Attendees also learned makeup tips from celebrity makeup artist Wendy Robin of Studio W/Stargirl Cosmetics.

First Fashion Friday Kick-off at Aloha Tower - August 1, 2008
Hifi and Aloha Tower Marketplace presented a Fall Fashion Preview and Fitness Makeover Challenge to kick off the 2008 "First Fashion Friday" series. Hifi sponsored a grand send-off for our own Jake Miyasato. His monthly art/music/fashion event at NextDoor has become a Chinatown cult favorite, and this finale showed why! Local designers from the UH and HCC fashion programs sent their latest collections down the catwalk to a thumping soundtrack of local hip-hop and DJ's. Bon Voyage Jake!

Green Style on The Garden Isle - April 11-13, 2008
In April 2008, Hifi hosted a weekend of environmentally friendly fashion on the Garden Isle of Kaua`i. The event showcased Hawaii designers, raised awareness for the green fashion movement, and introduced Hifi to the Kaua`i community.
The weekend kicked off Friday with a sneak preview of "green" fashions at Flash and Matty Productions' "Release" event at the Sheraton Kauai. Saturday Hifi hosted an invitation-only cocktail reception and eco-fashion panel discussion at the home of Kauai designer Denise Tjarks, co-sponsored by Green Drinks, Malie Organics, and 4 Copas Tequila. The weekend culminated on Sunday with the Eco-nista Market and Project Green Fashion Show at Kukui Grove Shopping Center in Lihue, featuring nine Hawaii designers. Co-sponsors included Fiji Water, Aveda Waipouli Beach Salon & Spa, Kauai Made, and Kukui Grove Shopping Center.

Huna Aloha: An Exhibit of Aloha Shirts and Swimwear Through the Decades at Ramsay Gallery - October 11, 2007
In October 2007 Hifi stages "Huna Aloha" as part of the official program of the F.A.C.E. of Nu`uanu Honoulu Fashion Week. The Bacardi-sponsored event drew over 150 guests to the Ramsay Gallery for an exhibit of Aloha Shirts and swimwear through the decades from the University of Hawaii's historic Costum Collection. Kahala designer and Aloha shirt expert Dale Hope gave two standing-room-only lectures.

Fashion Panel Discussion at Arts at Mark's - April 9, 2007
Hifi’s first event in April 2007 drew over 75 people to the Arts at Mark’s to learn about the concept of a fashion incubator and hear a panel of six prominent fashion professionals sound off on the future of Hawaii fashion. More than 50 attendees filled out surveys and the results helped inform Hifi’s mission and direction. Expanding Honolulu Fashion Week, creating a Honolulu Fashion District, providing affordable workspace and showroom space for designers, and hosting events to showcase local talent were identified as top priorities.
